Basic SWL antenna with lead in wire:
Simple but versatile all-band antenna is the long wire. The length of the antenna wire itself is not critical, but a length of 45 to 100 feet is a good choice. You won't notice a major difference in reception using shorter or longer wire unless the length is shorter 20 feet or less. Antenna height should be over 15 feet for best performance. The lead-in can be easily slipped under a closed window without difficulty. This wire is connected to the high impedance ( high Z ) post of your shortwave receiver. Antenna may be supported from any convenient object such as poles, trees, building etc..Take note , antenna installed at ground level are inefficient due to ground losses.
